This beautiful Cole Clark Fat Lady 2EC features Solid Blackwood Top, Back, and Sides and features a built-in Humbucking pickup on the top for extra tonal versatility.
The "Fat Lady" is Cole Clark's take on the classic Dreadnought body shape.
In Cole Clark's quest to create new and exciting products for the modern, touring musician, they have introduced several dual output ‘humbucker’ models. The idea came from the numerous artists they came across who had added electric pickups to their guitars for a dirty tone via a retrofitted pickup in the sound hole.
Apart from ruining their rosettes, the placement of that electric pickup isn’t optimal for dirty sounds. Most electric players head to their bridge pickup for this. As a result, Cole Clark decided to give those players a correctly placed, fine tuned and more stable dual output guitar.
The Humbucker models come with Cole Clark's patented 3 way acoustic pickup and all it’s usual settings. The added humbucker, with volume and tone knobs of the face are a completely separate output jack that runs ideally to an amplifier or amp simulator for an uncompromised electric guitar sound to blend with, loop or sit under your acoustic tone. They also added a switch on the face to easily switch from acoustic, electric or both together.
The reason for the two outputs is to have the absolute best of both worlds rather than a single output that will compromise both pickups and be limited in its ability. In simple terms, an acoustic guitar should be played through a PA and an electric guitar should be played through an amp.
The Cole Clark patented pickup system is the most acoustic sounding pickup available.Aimed at finding a more natural tone when amplified and eliminating piezo ‘quack’, their pickups comprise different elements that only hear certain frequencies which they’re best equipped to handle. This is done using a combination of 6 loaded piezos under the saddle for bottom end, a face sensor that can be blended in to hear frequencies in the mid to high range (350hz maximum crossover) and a condenser microphone shelved to hear only extreme highs.
Cole Clark guitars are all solid timber using mostly native Australian tone woods that are largely sustainable.
